Firefly Meadows Farm

Firefly Meadows Farm is a small footprint micro farm tucked away amid the forest in Bouchie Lake. We have a strong philosophy of working with the land rather than against it. As our little farm grows, we will incorporate regenerative and holistic methods that are in balance with the land as it originally stood. Many of our farm products incorporate forest foods and medicines as we honor the natural abundance that exists around us. With a strong background in Holistic & botanical medicine, our products are crafted with care, respect and as sustainably as possible. Our flock of holistically raised chickens provide beautiful rainbow eggs which are available for purchase at the farm. Periodically we will also offer chicks and pullets from our flock along with seasonal vegetables from our garden. Our artisanal Sourdough bread is also available for purchase weekly at the farm, at local markets and in town at The Den coffeeshop. Firefly Meadows Farm is also currently offering herbal salves, teas and handmade leather goods.

Moose Meadows Farm

"Where we farm with the seasons"

Moose Meadows Farm was established in April, 2002 and is a diverse bonafide operation with a tag line of “We farm with the Seasons”. Throughout the year, many different activities occur on the farm which coincide with the seasons. Some of the focus in on non-timber forest products. Spring is a time for yard clean up, preparing for the growing season, fencing, and Birch Syrup Production. The farm is home to a 2' x 6' evaporator which is used in early April for 2-3 weeks for rendering birch sap to syrup. The process is much like maple syrup but the results very much different. Summer is for gardening, planning farm events and festivals, pasture management, and hosting guests in our 2 On Farm Accommodation Options available through Air B&B. As the summer progresses, the harvest starts with a focus on garlic and a wide assortment of berries (e.g. Haskup, Elderberry, Raspberry, Cherries, Red and Black Currants, and Saskatoon). Autumn is typically a beautiful season in the North Cariboo with gorgeous colours. It is time to prepare the garden for the winter with the harvest and the replanting of garlic. At the end of September, the Bouchie Lake Harvest Festival is hosted at the farm. The Autumn creeps into winter and our evergreen products season typically kicks off with order and manufacturing wreaths and such products for the Winter and Christmas Season. Winter: Winter is Wreath season that begins early November and goes through until mid December to the Solstice. Since 2002, MMF has bee manufacturing evergreen products which are shipping throughout North America. After Christmas, the gardening season begins with planting seeds.
